Hannes is a member of NAPHA (Namibian Professional Hunters Association) and Safari Club International. He is also a master measurer of African Game. Successful trophy hunting requires the guidance of an expert professional hunter. Hannes’ passion for trophy hunting ensures your success in trophy hunting! He can customize your safari experience to the animals desired. All hunting at Bergzicht Game Lodge is carried out according to the sportsman’s dictum of fair chase.
Every hunting safari is tailored to meet your specific desires, with your unsurpassed satisfaction being our foremost priority. On average a hunter will take one trophy per day. There is no limit to the amount of trophies per hunter during a hunting safari. To ensure the ultimate hunting experience, combined with appreciating the unique Namibian environment, we recommend planning your hunting trip to last approximately 8 to 10 days. The annual hunting season starts on 1st February and ends on 30th November. More than 80% of our hunting trophies acquired, under guidance of Hannes du Plessis, qualify for the NAPHA Gold Medal award, according to the Namibian Quality Control System. This is one of the reasons why so many of our clients have returned again and again and why they have the confidence to refer their friends to us. Even inexperienced hunters are guaranteed a successful hunting safari.
For the inexperienced hunter, Hannes will provide help with rifle settings, on the shooting range, before the start of the hunting safari. A typical hunting day will start bright and early with a hearty breakfast buffet. According to your quarry preliminary sighting may be done by 4×4 vehicle with closer approach on foot or stalking and tracking, baiting for leopard hunts. Recommended calibres are .270 up to .300. Depending on the success of the hunt lunch will be served either at the lodge, if time permits, or on the plains, to prevent interruption of the hunt. Hunting will continue into the afternoon, if so desired by the guests.
